A Word About this Collection
Stephen and Mary Muller began acquiring this Latin American art collection during their careers in the foreign service. Accomplished in Spanish, they were stationed by the U.S. Department of State in various countries of South and Central America. The Mullers also traveled to other countries in this region where they were able to expand their collection.
Since 2003, Stephen and Mary Muller have been residing in Troy, NY, a city that has been the beneficiary of their philanthropic and volunteer work. The Martinez Gallery is pleased to offer selections from their Latin American art collection for sale.

Mola is a hand-made, traditional art of creating textiles by the Kuna peoples, who originate in parts of Panama and Colombia. These geometric designs are created using reverse appliqué in which layers of fabric are sewn together and cut away.
In this collection, we are showing vintage molas from the 1970s.
